Gadgets

Home to all my electronic gadgets:

Since 2010, I have designed a number of gadgets for Arduino and data loggers. Here is a list of some of them. My popular Phi-2 shields have their own page here.

SDI-12 USB adapter:

USB dongle

This adapter turns SDI-12 communication from SDI-12 sensors into serial communication. It makes interfacing with SDI-12 sensors simple for any operating system, such as windows, Mac, Linux, or raspberry pi.

Phi-panels:

These are serial LCD keypad panels that will make interfacing with a user so much easier. There are three types, two with integrated keypad, LED indicators, and buzzer, with two display sizes, the third type is a back pack fixed on any character display. You can plug a matrix keypad to the back pack. The panel can do multi-tap, menus, long texts, etc. all without using your main arduino.

Phi-connect:

We deal with problems of organizing cables and wires every day while doing our projects. This gadget will drastically improve the look and function of your project from breadboard to project box. It also makes switching between multiple project a snap!

RTC add-on:

This is a real time clock add-on for Arduino. You can simply insert it in the Arduino analog pins. It has an on-board battery to keep the time even after you pull it off the Arduino. I will post some more details soon.

Persistence of vision display

The persistence of vision display with the RTC add-on turns into an amazing clock

The persistence of vision display with an accelerometer turns into a physics lab demonstration (9.7g of gravity)

I designed this for persistence of vision applications or simply as a series of LEDs for instrument panels or other information display.

Relay board

The relay board

The relay board connected to a phi-1 shield

This is a relay board that you can drive with your Arduino or phi shields. It provides basic mechanical relay connectivity and a plug dedicated for a simple solenoid coil setup.

  2. Is the vision display of good quality? Because I think normally these vision displays consume much power and the display quality will be not that good too. Time Clock

Define good. I don’t know how to answer you unless you have a standard of what good is. Maybe the best is to make one yourself and display various things you want to display and judge for yourself. From my experience, you need to spin fast, 4rev/s or higher for my “good” text display. But you know what? Kids love these. It’s like a kids magnet every time I bring it to a public event.
